A federal judge on Thursday ordered President Trump to sit for a deposition by Dec. 11 in his $10 billion defamation lawsuit against the BBC, according to an Axios report. The suit concerns an edit of one of the president's speeches, which the president's lawyers say was misleading.

Axios reported that the order will likely force Trump to answer questions under oath "in a legal battle he started." The report was written by Josephine Walker and labeled as a breaking news story.

A separate ABC News report said lawyers for the BBC and Trump were in court arguing over whether former special counsel Jack Smith should be deposed in the case against the British broadcaster. The ABC News summary does not say how the court ruled on that question.

The two summaries do not say whether the judge's order addressed the dispute over Smith that ABC News described. The Axios report does not mention Smith at all.

Both reports concern the same lawsuit, which the summaries describe as Trump's $10 billion defamation case against the British broadcaster. The summaries do not name the court or the judge who issued the order, and they do not include the text of the order or the arguments made in court.
