According to a BBC News report on the reports about Hegseth and Rubio, the Trump administration has downplayed reports that Hegseth and Rubio could be on their way out after heavy Republican election losses. The broadcaster's headline says the White House denies that the pair will leave their jobs.

The New York Times, in a report by Tyler Pager and Anatoly Kurmanaev, said that Rubio, President Trump's secretary of state and national security adviser, rejected reports that he would leave his jobs to run for president. According to the Times report on Rubio's rejection of the reports, he said he "intended to stick with the administration to the end."

The two accounts differ on who rejected the reports. The Times attributes the rejection to Rubio himself, while the BBC attributes it to the White House, which its headline says denies the departures and which its summary says has downplayed them. Neither account describes an announced change in either official's post.

Separately, Politico's report on French Hill's race in Arkansas, written by Katherine Hapgood, said House Financial Services Chair French Hill barely survived his race in a reliably red Arkansas district. Its headline reports that a top House Republican said Trump "unfavorability" led to losses.
