An Associated Press poll of U.S. voters found that about 4 in 10 say the economy is the most important issue facing the country, according to a report published by PBS NewsHour's coverage of the AP Voter Poll. The report said most voters express concern about gas prices and the cost of groceries. It also said about 3 in 10 say the state of democracy is the top issue.

ABC News published an explainer on the Election Day Voter Poll, which its summary says helps answer the question of who won and why and explains what issues were important in the election. The summary does not report any findings from that poll, and it does not say when results will be released.

The Hill, in a piece by Addy Bink headlined Is same-day voter registration available in your state?, addressed people who have not yet registered to vote. Its summary tells those readers that "You may still have an opportunity to cast your ballot." The summary does not name any states, so it does not say which states offer same-day registration.

Taken together, the three items give readers two kinds of information. The AP figures are survey results on the issues voters rank highest, while The Hill and ABC News items are explanatory pieces on whether unregistered voters may still cast ballots and on what the Election Day Voter Poll is designed to answer.

The summaries do not include the AP poll's sample size or methodology, and they do not state whether the economy or democracy figures have changed from earlier polling. Each figure in this report comes from the summary of the PBS NewsHour item, and no other figures were available from the sources reviewed.
