Democrats are focusing on two subjects for the next Congress, according to reporting from The Hill and Politico. The Hill reported that Generation Z wants legislation that targets affordability and housing costs, and that Democrats believe they can address those concerns better than Republicans. In its report, The Hill examined what Democrats would do about the housing crisis facing young adults if they win Congress.

The Hill also reported that about two-thirds of young adults struggle to cover housing costs. It described recent housing numbers as not promising, citing a fall in single-family housing starts and building permits, which it said measure future construction. According to its summary, those measures fell 4.56 percent and 4 percent in September.

Politico reported, in a story by Eric Bazail-Eimil, that Democrats want the Department of Homeland Security back in the headlines. The outlet said this could thwart the administration's goal of keeping unpopular immigration enforcement operations away from public attention. Its headline, "Democrats want Mullin in the hotseat in the next Congress", names Mullin, but the summary of Politico's report does not say who Mullin is or what role he holds.

Neither The Hill nor Politico, in the summaries available, details the specific bills Democrats might pursue on either subject. The summaries also do not say whether the housing and homeland security topics are linked in Democratic planning.
